I usually write a Halloweenesque column that focuses on the rules of Trick-or-Treating. But with the pandemic and quarantine happening, I figured that I needed a new theme. This year, I’m going to give you tips on What To Do If You Find Yourself In A Horror Movie.

The lights are low and the air is filled with ghosts and ghouls on our Halloween-themed show. In this episode, each of the gang has a scary recommendation of an “off the beaten path” scary movie. Scary but not as well-known as some of the terror classics like “Halloween” and “Psycho.” Which one will they […]

My husband and I love to play games. While we like everything from Taboo to Monopoly to Scattergories, there’s one game that we play all fall long. We call it “What’s the Thermostat set on?” We’ve been playing this game since we first got married. As the years have passed, the game is just as […]

This episode is a change of pace from the last two. The upbeat and quirky “Be Kind Rewind.” This 2008 comedy stars Jack Black, Mos Def, and Danny Glover. Some of the words used to describe the film by the gang; whimsical, charming, joyous and “I don’t get it.” Interesting reactions to this one. Watch […]

Although I spend time in this column making you laugh, I earn my living writing more than humor. One of the ways I look for work is to sign up on various job boards online. You would think that by just typing in “freelance writer” or “freelance editor,” I could find out about work in […]

The gang discusses another early 70’s film, 1971’s “Klute.” A gritty and bleak film that includes Jane Fonda’s Academy award-winning performance as a call girl embroiled in murder. Co-starring Donald Sutherland as the private eye trying to solve the case while getting played by Fonda’s Bree Daniels. If you like dark and atmospheric…”Klute” is for […]

A hospital, what is it? “It’s a big building with beds” and it’s the movie the gang discusses here. This 1971 dark comedy features an Oscar nominated performance by George C. Scott and Diana Rigg’s American film debut. Written by Paddy Chayefsky who among others wrote “Marty” and “Network.” Interesting conversation around this, more dark […]

When I was a little girl, I hated mosquitoes. Not that anyone actually loves the little suckers. But I really, really hated them. Because when I got bit by mosquitoes, the bites swelled up so bad that if I got them behind my knees, it was tough to bend them. Seriously. It was just awful. […]

I never thought I’d be this way. At least not until I retired. But let’s face it—writers never really retire. They tend to drop dead at their desks. I’d actually like to go in my sleep. So perhaps I’ll fall asleep on my desk—and then drop dead. Though I don’t want that to happen for […]

In June, my husband and I experienced a huge milestone in our life—we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! Hooray! Woo hoo! Yay for us! We were planning on spending it in Cape May, and later in the year, traveling to London, where we’ve never been, and possibly Hawaii, where we went for our honeymoon (and […]
